Autores larga se les ha dicho que deben promocionar sus libros en Twitter, pero hasta ahora no había manera fácil de integrar una muestra de un libro electrónico en el servicio para que pueda ser leído sin salir de Twitter.
Eso cambió hoy. Acabo de enterarme de que un minorista de libros electrónicos japonés ha desarrollado un servicio simple que tendrá un Epub y devolver un enlace que puede ser tuiteó.
El servicio se llama EPUB2Twitter Tw-ePub y que está abierto al público. Permite a los autores para subir una publicación electrónica, añadir un título y una breve descripción, y luego generar un enlace que se puede añadir a un tweet.
Puede probar el servicio por sí mismo aquí. Cuando twitteado, ese enlace desencadena protocolos embed de Twitter, por lo que es cargar un visor Epub. Ya lo probé en un tweet, que se puede ver aquí. El embed resultante se ve algo como esto:

Eso no es una buena pantalla, lo sé, pero esto no funciona en la práctica. He estado jugando con este servicio esta mañana, y se genera una publicación electrónica legible con algunas características básicas como texto que se pueden destacar y copiar. Es un poco lento, pero dado que se carga el Epub antes de mostrarla que es de esperar.
Si lo desea, puede ver la misma Epub visualiza en su navegador web. No sé que desarrolló esta aplicación web, pero es bastante bueno.

Authors have long been told that they should promote their books on Twitter, but until now there was no easy way to embed a sample of an ebook in the service so it can be read without leaving Twitter.
That changed today. I’ve just learned that a Japanese ebook retailer has developed a simple service that will take an Epub and return a link which can be tweeted.
The service is called EPUB2Twitter Tw-ePub and that it is open to the public. It enables authors to upload an Epub, add a title and brief description, and then generate a link which can be added to a tweet.
You can test the service for yourself here. When tweeted, that link triggers Twitter’s embed protocols, making it load an Epub viewer. I already tested it in a tweet, which you can view here. The resulting embed looks something like this:

That’s not a good screenshot, I know, but this does work out in practice. I’ve been playing with this service this morning, and it generates a readable Epub with a few basic features like text that can be highlighted and copied. It is a little slow, but given that it loads the Epub before displaying it that is to be expected.
